Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Why do I need video recording while I'm driving?

If you watch our demo video on our home page, we think you will see why you need it.

If you don't have proof that you were not at fault in an accident, you could face lawsuits, lawyer costs, fines & tickets, high insurance deductibles, higher insurance rates, lots of wasted time, and possibly loss of your driver's license and maybe even jail time.

How long can the Windshield Cam system video record?

The Windshield Cam system records video from
all 4 cameras for 200 Hours, which is about 8 full 24 hour days.
We do offer larger Hard Drives that will record
325 hours which is about 14 full days.

After the hard drive is full, it will automatically start recording video from the beginning and slowly overwrite the oldest video first (first in, first out).

Why do I need this much recording time?

Sometimes accidents, hit & runs, false accusations or other incidents might not be reported right away, or it takes time for the police to track you down.

Also, trucks hauling oversize loads or other freight find the Windshield Cam provides an important video record of all events that happen along the way. This can help the company train new drivers or evaluate why an incident happened etc.

Sometimes a driver or company just wants to save some great video footage to their laptop for personal or advertising use, and this gives them lots of time to do that.

Can I replay the Video to the police at the scene of an accident?

Yes you can replay the video back instantly. You can also
input any time & date in the last 200 hours and the Windshield Cam Recorder will jump to that exact time and start playing back the video. This is very handy to find an incident that happened earlier in the day or week.

You also have a choice of 3 different video monitors to choose from.

We have both 7" & 9" Dash Mounted Monitors and a unique 7" Sunvisor Monitor that easily clips onto the driver's side sunvisor. The Sunvisor Monitor avoids dash clutter and is very convenient.

What are the dimensions of the equipment?

Digital Recorder is 10" Long x 6 1/2" Wide (including vibration proof bracket) x 4 3/4" Tall

Windshield Camera is 3 3/4" Long x 1 3/4" square (plus windshield suction mount)

Side / Rear Camera is 3" Wide x 3" Tall (including bracket) x 2" Thick

7" Dash Monitor is 6 1/4" Wide x 5" Tall x 1" Thick

9" Dash Monitor is 9" Wide x 6 1/2" Tall x 1" Thick

Can I install it myself?

Yes, you definitely can install the Windshield Cam System yourself.

There is only 1 power cord 15 feet long that normally plugs into a cigarette lighter adapter. It can also be attached to your fuse box or directly to the battery.

All the Cameras and the Monitor are 12 volts. The power is supplied from the Recorder to the cameras and monitor via special power / video combo cables for easy installation.

The side cameras for trucks are attached to the side mirrors with aluminum brackets (included).

The Windshield Camera mounts high up on the Windshield with a positive suction mount, usually to the right of the center and in the wiper area.

The Rear Camera mounts on the Headache Rack if pulling a flatdeck or low bed etc, and on the rear of a Van trailer.
